Celsian Education and the TLA
As part of our commitment to you and your on-going professional and career development, we are working as a support partner with the Teacher Learning Academy (TLA). The TLA is a unique national system, set up to help teachers at all levels of experience to make small changes that have a significant and lasting impact on their classroom practice and gain professional recognition at all career stages.
Teachers enrolling through Celsian Education with the TLA can also benefit from the TLA online community where they can communicate with other teachers, share learning, join forums and discussion groups and access support and resources.
There is normally a fee for independent learners on the framework but as part of the Celsian supply community we are prepared to sponsor you as you start your journey (subject to you meeting the relevant criteria of course).
In addition, as a result of a partnership between the College of Teachers and the TLA, teachers taking part in the TLA can now earn credit towards a Masters degree taken at any higher education institute in England.

How the TLA works
The TLA offers teachers the opportunity to enhance their practice and gain professional recognition through Stages One to Fourn with each stage requiring a progressively greater depth of enquiry, reflection and analysis.
You don’t have to work through the stages sequentially, but we do recommend starting at Stage One to familiarise yourself with the TLA framework. Every stage follows the same process or framework. Stage One can be used to apply learning from a short course and can be completed in just half a term.
TLA – a Learning Journey
Through a framework for effective classroom and school-based enquiry, teachers develop, share and try out new or different approaches or skills. This is described as a learning journey. You first decide on a focus for your project, perhaps a subject you are familiar with but wish to explore in more depth. You describe how you intend to go about your research and learning, then you record your progress as you go along.
Your plan and learning journal form your presentation.
If you are a Celsian supply teacher and you would like to enrol with the TLA, contact your local Celsian branch and they will tell you how we can support you.
